Wedding music packages – timings/schedule

Listed here are some typical timings/schedules of what to expect when you book one of my wedding music packages!

Ceremony + Drinks Reception

12:30 I arrive at the venue to set up
13:45 Guests are seated to the Wedding Ceremony. Live background music played
14:00 Wedding ceremony begins. Live aisle walk music played
14:20 Signing of the register. 2-3 live songs played.
14:30 Recessional (exit from ceremony) music played
14:35 Drinks reception music begins (45 minute set)
15:20 Break (recorded music played though my PA)
15:30 Drinks reception music (second 45/60 minute set)
16:15 Guests are seated to the wedding breakfast. Music ends when everyone is seated.

Timings are flexible – various factors can affect the schedule of the day such as a delay to the start of the ceremony, or a longer Drinks Reception. I’ll always endeavour to keep the live music going right until the end of the Drinks Reception! This may involve me taking a second break.

The Party Starter

16:30 Break whilst guests eat / speeches etc.
18:30 Wedding Breakfast ends – 60 minute live acoustic set as guests mingle and DJ/band sets up
19:30 Live acoustic first dance, if requested

Timings are flexible, as the length of the wedding breakfast depends on how many courses are served, how long speeches are and various other factors – so the cutoff point is 8:30pm. If it’s later than this, extra time charges will apply. Contact me if you think this might be the case.

The location for the evening set depends on the venue but will usually be somewhere separate to where the DJ/band are located. The DJ/band will usually need an hour or so to set up, and the venue staff will often change the configuration of the room at this point – so it’s nice to have my live music in another part of the venue while this is happening. Outdoors is always a winner in Summer if the weather is good! Guests can get drinks and enjoy the live music, and evening guests would usually start turning up at this point so it’s nice to have the music playing as they arrive.

Evening Headliner

18:00 I arrive at the venue to set up
20:00 Live acoustic First Dance, if requested
20:05 Live acoustic music – Set 1
21:00 Break (recorded music playlist through my PA). Often evening food will be served at this point.
21:30 Live acoustic music – Set 2
22:30 Live music ends

Timings are flexible, with a cutoff of 11pm latest. You can also divide the sets into 3 x 40 minutes rather than 2 x 60 minutes if this suits your schedule better.

I no longer offer a DJ option – however you are welcome to put your own playlist on through my PA system through to midnight. This will incur a charge of £150 for hire of PA equipment. You will need to supply a device with a pre-loaded playlist and an AUX output. Tips for putting your own playlist together!

(please note: it may not always be possible for me to offer the option of staying later depending on my schedule the following day and how long my journey home is, so ensure you contact me well in advance if you are interested in adding this on)

21:30 First Dance and start of second acoustic set

The First Dance can be played at any point, but generally works best at the start of the second set. As everyone is up on the dance floor, it naturally works well to go straight into the upbeat live music after the First Dance. In the example above, the First Dance is at 9:30pm – you may feel that this is too late, and your photographer/videographer might also have a cutoff time, so in this case you might wish to move it earlier.

I no longer offer a DJ option – however you are welcome to put your own playlist on through my PA system through to midnight. This will incur a charge of £150 for hire of PA equipment.
