6th October – Updates!

Well, 2015 has been an amazing year for me I must say! I’m proud to say that being a musician is now my full-time occupation, and I’ve watched my little business go from strength to strength in the past couple of years.

2015 saw a 300% increase in wedding bookings, and 2016 is lining up to be my busiest year yet.

I’ve been busy filming and recording audio from many of my 2015 weddings and have a huge amount of footage to work through! So that means there will be lots of new live videos coming soon, along with some new professional demos – so keep an eye on my video page and YouTube page throughout the Winter.

On every booking form this year I’ve included an optional section for website feedback and improvements. I’ve been listening to everyone’s comments and will be implementing lots of the great suggestions that have come in – thanks everyone! One of these was an option to sort the repertoire by era rather than just list it in alphabetical order. This is the first improvement I’ll be bringing in, so keep an eye on the repertoire page which will have a new look for 2016.

Jenny & Shaun’s wedding at Ever After nr Tavistock, Devon

Pat McIntyre - www.guitaristforweddings.co.uk

July 18th, 2015 saw a journey down to Ever After at Lower Grenofen (near Tavistock, Devon) for Jenny and Shaun’s big day. Lots of organisation went into this amazing wedding day, with the bride and groom arranging everything from their home in New Zealand!

Jenny & Shaun booked my all-day package – so that included welcome music as guests arrived, live songs during the wedding ceremony, the afternoon drinks reception and the evening party. Lots and lots of live acoustic tunes!

After an hour or so of music out on the green as guests arrived, we made our way over to the Orchard for the wedding ceremony.

Live acoustic music at the Lynhurst, Devon: Sarah & Kevin’s afternoon wedding reception

image: The Lynhurst, Lynton, North Devon

Saturday 11th July saw a trip down to the beautiful surroundings of Lynton in North Devon. Sarah and Kevin were married in the afternoon at the local church, and booked out The Lynhurst for their afternoon/evening celebrations. They booked me to play a couple of acoustic sets during drinks and cream teas, with speeches during my break.

Following an unsuccessful fight with my sat-nav, I eventually located the venue thanks to some help from the locals. GPS/3G hasn’t quite reached Lynton yet! I walked up the pathway to the Lynhurst and was greeted by fantastic views with the sea twinkling in the distance.

I set up my PA system, while the caterers carefully prepared cream teas, and we awaited the entrance of the newlyweds and their bridal party.

Louise & Colin’s wedding at the Matara Centre – live acoustic entertainment

Pat McIntyre - www.guitaristforweddings.co.uk

Friday, 12th June and a trip Northwards to the Matara Centre, a beautiful, unique wedding venue in the Cotswolds. I’ve seen lots of photos of ceremonies at Matara, but this is the first time I’ve actually played there – and wow, what a stunning place!

image: Wedding welcome sign

I arrived just before 5pm, with music scheduled for 7pm – some entertainment as guests exited the wedding breakfast for the room turnaround, before the party later on. I hoped to be set up in the courtyard area, but of course – after my last blog about being a “good weather charm” – we had rain! A warm, humid day with some drizzle meant I had to set up indoors under cover, but I positioned my speakers so that everyone could hear the music.

image: Live wedding music Matara Cotswolds

Now, I’ve played at countless weddings over my 5 or so years doing this – but Friday’s wedding was a first. As I was casually setting my gear up at about 5.30 (still wearing t-shirt and flip-flops at this point!) guests started to arrive for teas and coffees. I’m used to weddings running half an hour, maybe an hour, behind – but this wedding was running an hour and a half ahead of schedule!! This, I can promise you, is VERY rare!

So I ducked off quickly to put on some more suitable attire, and returned to finish setting up. I started the music just after 6pm, and proceeded to play a selection of songs picked by the happy couple. Here’s Louise & Colin’s acoustic playlist:

Jack Johnson - Better Together
Tom Odell - Grow Old With Me
Passenger – Let Her Go
Zutons - Valerie
Bill Withers - Ain't no Sunshine
Arctic Monkeys - Mardy Bum
U2 – All I want is you
The Kooks – She Moves In Her Own Way
Counting Crows – Accidentally in Love
Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars
John Legend - All of Me
Ray Lamontage - You are the Best Thing
The Fratellis – Baby Doll
Pharrell – Happy
Avicii – Wake me Up
Bruno Mars – Just the way you are
Daft Punk – Get Lucky
Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk
Deep Blue Somethings – Breakfast at Tiffanys
Razorlight – Before I Fall to Pieces
Green Day – Time of your Life
Arctic Monkeys - I Bet That You look Good on the Dance Floor
James – Sit Down
Oasis – Champagne Supernova
Ben E King – Stand by Me
The Beatles – All you need is Love
Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud

A lovely evening, and the music seemed to go down really well. Huge congratulations to Louise and Colin – hope you had a fantastic day, and a great evening!

The Green, Cornwall: Live unplugged acoustic music at Mark & Shona’s wedding ceremony + canapé reception

Pat McIntyre - www.guitaristforweddings.co.uk

Sat, 30th May and another trip down the M5/A30 – a well travelled road for me this year! Today’s venue was The Green Cornwall, a stunning self-contained wedding venue in the beautiful Cornish countryside.

image: The Green Cornwall entrance image: Wedding at The Green Cornwall
I arrived to the venue in the pretty village of Upton Cross, near Liskeard in the morning to another bright, sunny day – keeping up my 100% record of good weather at weddings this Summer! I’ve often joked with couples that I’m a good luck charm when it comes to weather – more often than not it seems to turn out fair. Maybe the UK weather’s not actually as bad as we think…?!

Anyway, plenty of time for me to get ready for the outdoor wedding ceremony – and a chance for me and the bride’s sister to do some practice; bravely, she sang “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” during the bridal entrance with my guitar accompaniment, which we rehearsed in the morning.

At about 11.30am I made my way down to the ceremony area with my guitar. This venue doesn’t permit outdoor amplification of any kind, so I was playing unplugged today – some subtle ambience!

image: Acoustic guitar at the wedding ceremony

Setting acoustic ambience as guests are seated

The big moment arrived at 12am, and the bride’s sister did an incredible job singing the bridal entrance song – a really emotional moment. We had some more acoustic songs during the signing of the register, then the happy newlyweds exited their beautiful ceremony as I played Higher & Higher by Jackie Wilson.

image: Married at The Green Cornwall

Man & wife!

We then moved up towards the main building where drinks were served and canapés were brought out. As guests mingled, I roamed around playing some acoustic tunes chosen by Mark & Shona. I covered as much area as I could so that everyone could hear the music – it’s quite unusual for me to play completely unplugged but it works nicely for some subtle background ambience.

Here’s Mark and Shona’s acoustic playlist:

George Ezra - Budapest
Jake Bugg - Lightning Bolt
Bruno Mars - Marry You
Ben E King - Stand By Me

Signing of the register: The One, Kiss Me

Laura & Chris: The Manor House, Castle Combe. Wedding Guitarist & Singer – Ceremony + Drinks Reception

logo: Pat McIntyre - guitarist for weddings

Sunday 24th May, and a relatively short journey from my home in East Bristol over to the picture-perfect village of Castle Combe. This little gem in the Cotswolds has been described as “The prettiest village in England” – and as you arrive it’s hard not to pull over and take a few photos! Which, of course, I did!

image: Castle Combe Views image - Castle Combe views 2

An incredible place to get married, and as you enter the Manor House Castle Combe the grounds of the venue are just as stunning…

image: The Manor House Hotel Castle Combe image: The Manor House Castle Combe

So a beautiful setting for Chris and Laura’s big day. The happy couple booked me for the wedding ceremony + reception package. The morning brought some light rain, so I set up inside ready to play at the ceremony. After playing some background music as guests assembled, Laura made her entrance to an instrumental version of “Let Her Go” by Passenger.

Playing during the wedding ceremony

During the signing of the register I played “Won’t Let You Go” by James Morrison, and an instrumental version of “The Woman I Love” by Jason Mraz. The happy couple exited the ceremony to the ever-popular “Higher & Higher” by Jackie Wilson.

The weather cheered up in the afternoon – so a quick change of plan, and I did some rushing around to move my equipment out to the front of the building where the drinks reception took place.
